- Do you charge for signing up to SYC’s parcel forwarding service?
Registration is totally free.
- Do you provide a full postal address?
Yes. The address we provide you is a fully legitimate UK address (it’s not a PO Box).
- How do I pay?
Payment can be made by credit or debit card.
- When is SYC accepting deliveries?
We are open and accepting deliveries from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday (UK time). We are closed for deliveries on UK public holidays.
- Do shipping rates include duty charges and taxes?
No. There is no duty to pay for shipments across borders within the EU. Shipments outside the EU may attract duty; this will be levied locally and is your responsibility. Deliveries to vessels outside the EU will be marked as ‘Ship spares in transit’. Your local marina office or customs agent will explain the procedure.
- Can you deliver to the marina?
Yes, as long as there’s no restriction to enter the marina. Please ensure that you provide us with a local phone number in case the delivery driver needs to call.
- Can you deliver to the PO boxes?
We can not deliver to the PO boxes.
- What if you can’t find my yacht?
Although our couriers are very experienced in delivering to yachts, it’s essential that you provide us with a local contact number when booking the consignment, in case we need to clarify the location of your yacht.
- Can you ship hazardous items?
We can indeed, however strict guidelines must be followed when handling hazardous goods which may cause additional cost. If you’re unsure whether your item might be classed as hazardous, please check or get in touch with us beforehand.
- What is volumetric weight?
The cost of shipping is generally calculated by the amount of space that your shipment occupies, rather than the actual weight. This is called the volumetric weight. All couriers use the volumetric weight to calculate their shipping prices. However, if the actual weight is more than this volumetric weight then the shipping price is calculated using this actual weight.
- Do you charge for storage?
We provide 30 days of free storage for each package received and the daily fee after 30 days, as set out on our pricing page. The first invoice is sent 14 days after the free storage period expires.
- Can I devalue my goods for customs purposes?
No. We abide by the customs procedures.
- Can I use SYC address to apply for financial products?
Under no circumstances should your SYC address be used as a residential address to apply for financial products such as insurance, loans or credit cards.
- Can I use my SYC address to apply for official documents?
Under no circumstances should your SYC address be used to register for documents such as passports and driving licenses.
- Can I register my company at SYC address?
Under no circumstances should your SYC address be used to register your company at Companies House or with HM Revenue and Customs.
- Can I use more than one name on my account?
Your account is identified by your full name. The name on the package must appear exactly as it is registered with SYC. Each addressee must have their own SYC account.
- What do I do if my package is lost or damaged?
In the unlikely event of your package going missing in transit, contact our customer service team as soon as possible. We will get in touch with the courier immediately to locate the package. If your package arrives damaged, please keep photographic proof of the damage, including external packaging. In this event we will place a claim with the courier on your behalf.
- Can you ship food items?
Yes, we can.
- What can you and can you not send?
Generally, if a UK retailer sends us a package, then we can send it on to you. However, there are some exceptions and it is your responsibility to check. For example, you can not send alcohol to another EU country. There may also be restrictions to other countries. If there is any doubt, drop us a line. A full list of prohibited items can be found in condition 4 of our Terms of Trade.
